Many wind farms in the American southwest are rather identical in that they're a set of blades that are on a horizontal axis and rotate while being pointed into the wind, but there are a few other types of wind machines that operate in a slightly different way. The location of a wind farm is important since the level of wind energy at a particular location is measured very specifically to generate the impact of things like the velocity of the wind and the density of the air. These measurements when combined will allow a particular area to earn a rating for energy available.
