Bed and Breakfasts in America - Details
The traditions of a New York bed and breakfast inn stretch back centuries with lodging establishments existing as a popular way to utilize hospitality during travel as early as the days of Colonial America. Since there were very few official lodging establishments and inns across New England, the opening of homes for weary travelers became commonplace. It was not until the advent of cross-country trains and the railroad that hotels became plentiful and large establishments weren't in every town until the arrival of the personal automobile and the building of the interstate highway system.
